NewsOutdoor sportS&C / Team SportMcLloyd’s momentum extends with French National Hockey team signing

9 April 2021

McLloyd is delighted to announce its brand-new partnership with the French Hockey Federation for the next 4 years.

The partnership will look to equip the men’s national hockey team with its GPS tracking technology until the ever so close 2024 Paris Olympics. McLloyd’s user friendly software, extensive library of performance metrics, tactical analysis tools and customizable interface stood out to the French Hockey Federation, governing body of the sport. Thus, the technology provided will serve as a steppingstone towards becoming more competitive through the collection of highly accurate positioning and biometric data, all in real time. This gives the opportunity for coaches to follow and assess their athletes by objectively measuring progress and evolution over the next years 4 years. Allowing them to manage the training workload and anticipate any menacing injuries puts them in prime conditions to prepare the players’ performances leading up to 2024.

Valentin Rumeau, Head of Fitness for the French national team, had a few words to say around implementing McLloyd’s GPS:

We are very happy to be using McLloyd trackers, it will allow us to monitor our training workload through precise data, consequently improving the fitness level of our players. The “Live” option also allows us to have instant feedback on the performance of our players, both in matches and in training, a feature that is becoming indispensable in today’s highly competitive sports.

We are also looking forward to the new McLloyd solution that will be delivered this summer. It will allow, amongst other things, the synchronization of data of each player remotely, therefore during club season. The instantaneous and automatic collection of data in a cloud will be a great evolution for us: all the staff will have access to it, and we will be able, in symbiosis, to anticipate the future elements to be worked on during our training camps ahead of international competitions. By remotely correcting and adapting the players’ training workloads, we will also be able to control the dates of desired peaks of form for each of our players.

Finally, the McLloyd equipment will be of great help to me personally in the analysis of activity in the sport of hockey, in the evaluation and evolution of the physical performances of our players during a match, a study which is an integral part of the thesis that I am carrying out at the moment.

France has shown some outstanding development the sport, gaining 4 positions on the world ranking over the last recent years, putting them in reach of the top 10. Moreover, the team has established some solid groundworks in their recent training camp by defeating the likes of Canada along with showing some interesting potential against the world champion Belgium. France will look to pursue their encouraging form over for the European Championship in Amsterdam, starting on the 4th of June. A success at the tournament will confirm the promising efforts, making the 2024 Olympics at home a very interesting and open competition.

Naturally, as a French company, McLloyd is honoured to be able to contribute to the optimization of performance for our national team, playing as host in the next Olympics. Having continuous, reliable, and accurate data available to the players and coaches will undoubtedly support the physical and mental preparation that goes into this prestigious competition.
